Services

Promoting Independence in Older Adults provides occupational therapy home services focused on helping older adults (65+) age safely in place. Through holistic evaluation and personalized interventions, we address physical, cognitive, and environmental barriers to independence.

Comprehensive assessment by an experienced occupational therapist which includes evaluation of the following areas: a client’s goals related to home safety, a client’s physical, cognitive, and visual function, balance, fear of falling, lifestyle behaviors, and a review of the interior and exterior environment of the client’s home. Following completion of this two-hour assessment, clients will be provided with a detailed written report of the findings, and suggested recommendations to reduce the risk of a fall. The client and occupational therapist will then jointly determine if additional follow-up/training sessions are indicated, and if so, how many sessions are required.

2-Hour Evaluation

Training sessions are scheduled after the completion of your initial evaluation. If training sessions are decided upon, the occupational therapist will assist you in identifying the best type of adaptive equipment for you to order, train you in the correct way of using any adaptive equipment, provide resources for purchasing adaptive equipment, and/or ensure that the equipment you purchased meets your specific needs. Training sessions can also include demonstration of new ways to perform daily living tasks, and information about evidence-based fall prevention exercise classes.

1-Hour Training Session
